  14. <p>    DECLARED INCOMPETENT. Harry Helmsley, 80, hotelier who with
  15. his wife Leona heads a $5 billion real estate empire; in New
  16. York City. U.S. District Judge John Walker held that Helmsley's
  17. memory lapses and reasoning difficulties make him unfit to stand
  18. trial on 47 counts of tax evasion, and added that Helmsley's
  19. prominence played no part in the decision. The Helmsleys are
  20. charged with disguising as business expenses $4 million in
  21. renovations to their country mansion. Leona Helmsley and two
  22. former aides are due to go on trial June 26.
